Terms governing use of our platform and tools

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Bloor Engineering Ltd website and engineering tools platform ("Platform") operated by Bloor Engineering Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), Company Registration 14230472, VAT Registration 420413746.

By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.

2. Description of Services

The Platform provides:

  • Engineering reference guides and technical data for furnace and heat treatment professionals
  • Calculators for heat loss, gas pipe sizing, burner sizing, and other engineering calculations
  • AI-powered engineering assistant
  • Field tools including service reports, commissioning checklists, TUS logging, and calibration tracking
  • Project management and document storage

These tools are provided to assist qualified professionals. They do not replace professional engineering judgement, site-specific assessments, or compliance with applicable regulations.

3. User Accounts

Some features require account registration. You must:

  • Provide accurate information during registration
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use of your account
  • Be at least 18 years old or have parental/guardian consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Subscription Plans & Billing

The Platform offers multiple tiers:

  • Free — Limited access, no payment required
  • Registered — Full reference access, no payment required
  • Professional — Unlimited tools and calculators, billed monthly or annually
  • Enterprise — Multi-seat access with additional features, billed monthly or annually

Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges at the applicable rate. You may cancel at any time through your account settings or billing portal — access continues until the end of the current billing period.

We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before any price change takes effect.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Platform or its systems
  • Scrape, reproduce, or redistribute Platform content without written permission
  • Share your account credentials with others (Enterprise seats are per-user)
  • Use automated tools to access the Platform beyond normal usage
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to compromise Platform security

6. Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform — including reference data, calculator algorithms, articles, and interface design — is owned by Bloor Engineering Ltd or used under licence. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from Platform content without our written consent.

Content you create using the Platform (service reports, projects, notes) remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to store and process this content solely to provide the service.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". While we strive for accuracy in all engineering data and calculations:

  • We do not warrant that calculations will be error-free or suitable for any specific application
  • Reference data is provided for guidance and should be verified against manufacturer specifications and applicable standards
  • AI assistant responses are generated by artificial intelligence and should be verified by qualified engineers
  • The Platform is not a substitute for professional engineering assessment, site surveys, or compliance audits

You are solely responsible for verifying all calculations and data before using them in real-world applications.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bloor Engineering Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to:

  • Errors in calculations or reference data
  • Decisions made based on Platform content or AI responses
  • Loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity
  • Service interruptions or downtime

Our total liability for any claim related to the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Data Protection

Your privacy matters to us. Please see our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the Platform. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
